Happy New Year readers wherever you are.

I think in 2011 I'm going to try something new as it's become obvious that there isn't any real interest in the challenges posted here so I'm going to be concentrating my efforts over on my own blog Confessions of a craftaholic where I'm starting an altered book project.

I really hope some of you will go and take a look and maybe even have a go at an altered book/journal.

If not I hope 2011 gives you all you wish for and I'll see you around.

Fabric

For this new challenge I'd like to see you use some fabric on your creations. It may be to cover something, to make a flower, you may make something out of fabric entirely, show me how you use fabric. My two atc's are made out of canvas and collaged and stamped over.

Birds.

My new theme for the next 2 weeks will be Birds, prompted this week by several flocks of birds, most likely geese flying over the house on their way to warmer places. It's a sign that the colder times are around the corner although we are experiencing some gorgeous weather at the moment making it hard to think about the snow and ice ahead.

Anyway, less of the waffle and more about the art and my ATC to hopefully inspire you includes stamps from Tim Holtz and Paper Artsy. Usual rules apply - use a bird image of some form on your artwork but anything goes. Leave your link at the bottom so I can visit you and leave a message and have fun creating.

Well, here we go with another challenge and what could be more apropriate this time than Pumpkins. It just had to be didn't it? There can be no shortage of pumpkin inspiration out there for the next two weeks, so as usual add your link at the bottom and show off your pumpkin inspired art work.

Thank you so much to all those people who entered the last challenge. I truly enjoyed looking at all of your entries.

For this new challenge the prompt is "Cake".

As usual anything goes as long as you've used the theme as your inspiration. You might use a stamp as I have here, bake a plate of cup-cakes or think outside the box and create a piece of artwork of Marie Antoinette and her famous phrase "Let them eat cake".

Thank you to Lena for adding her art work to the first challenge. I do hope we'll get some more adding artwork this time around.

Anyway, the challenge for the next two weeks is to use Black. It's a colour which alot of people may find very difficult to work with unless it's a sympathy card, but actually it can make a pretty bold statement or just add that little 'je ne sais qui' to your work.

So for the next two weeks try to add a little black to your cards, layouts, atc's or altered items and add a link at the bottom so we can see it and comment.

Today is the launch of our brand new fortnightly challenge.

Every two weeks I'll be posting a prompt which could be a word, a phrase, a colour - in fact just about anything. I ask you to create something, anything taking that word as inspiration. This artwork can be an inchy, atc, card, layout or altered item or indeed anything else you can think of but you must use the word as your inspiration.

At the bottom (hopefully if it works) I should have put a linky in so you can post your creation onto the link which should appear as a thumbnail picture so everyone else can instantly see what you've created. Click on other link thumbnails to take you to the blogs or gallery's of other people where you can leave them a comment and make their day.

So here goes for the first Scrappy Accents challenge which is Ice-Cream.

It has to be said I've become a little neglectful lately on the blog front, prefering instead to put all my efforts into the web site. I intend to change all that and maybe start using the blog as a place for some extra challenges and fun.

For the moment though, above is the latest sketch challenge to be found on the Scrappy Accents web site. It'll run through September too as the holiday season and return to school takes preference.

So next time I post I should have some good news about challenges here on the blog.

Summer has officially kicked in and I thought we could do with a little lift to brighten things up a bit. I hope you like the fresh new look to the site as I think it shows a brighter summery feel.

Above are the new sketches for this month which are up on the site. We have some new challenges, the bingo has been announced and I'm planning some downloadable templates and images. We have lots of new videos for inspiration so go take a look.

I'd also like to welcome lots of new members who I hope will become involved in the group and tell us what they're up to.

Hello there Scrappy friends. I'm hoping that by now things are warming up and you're having a taste of the summer to come.

On the Scrappy Accents web site I'm trying to get everyone into that summer mood with a new sketch challenge for layouts or card makers to follow and I'll be choosing a winner at the end of the month to send a small prize to. This is the new sketch.

Well my scrappy friends I hope the spring is giving you lots of inspiration for your layouts and cards. Try and remember to take your camera out in your handbag when you go out as the colours of the new spring flowers and leaves at the moment are gorgeous.

We've been busy at Scrappy Accents recently and now with so many members I think it may be time to start some swaps.

In the groups section I've started a sign up for an altered domino swap and in the anything smaller than a card group an atc swap. I'm hoping to get lots of interested people signing up as swaps are so much fun to do and it's a fabulous way of seeing first hand how other people do their artwork.

I'm glad too to see the photo's section filling up, it's nice to see what everyone is up to.

We have new challenges and a sketch challenge up to keep you busy and in the art journalers group I've started a weekly prompt to get you going. I intend this to be an on going thing and there's no obligation to show and tell as journals can be private things. I've laid mine bare though to show you what you can achieve with your own book.

I've put in some interesting videos too and I'll be adding to them as time goes by.

So there you have it. Lots to keep you occupied for the moment so there's no excuse.

Spring has sprung

The sunny weather is here at last and the great outdoors is calling. Inspiration is everywhere, in the colours, the photograph opportunities and the general uplifting mood which spring gives us.

The recent cybercrop weekend was a great success with many people logging on over the weekend to take advantage of the tutorials, games and challenges. There was some video chat going on as well which due to the time difference I wasn't able to participate in (past my bed time).

The new site is well and truly underway now with already quite alot of members. The old design team is still with us, Theresa, Sharon, Tracy and Rita and over the coming weeks I'll be featuring them here.

I've posted the new bingo words for May so if you go to the site you can choose 25 words from the list and e-mail them to me by sunday the 3rd and I'll start calling them on monday 4th.

There is a new challenge up and at the beginning of May there'll be a new monthly sketch challenge.

New home for Scrappy Accents

As most of you will have heard by now, the free Ning groups are to be closed down on the 4th May.

All is not lost however as a new home has been found on the Spruz network.

I know it's a pain having to join another site but believe me no-one is more sorry than me. I hope you'll sign up and join me in this new venture and I imagine for the first couple of weeks I wouldn't be surprised if there were one or two problems as I'm learning on the job so to speak but if your willing to stay with me then I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things by the 1st May.

Cybercrop weekend

This weekend we're holding a Cybercrop over at Scrappy Accents starting tomorrow, friday 16th and ending sunday 18th.

There'll be challenges, tutorials, chat and games with the odd RAK thrown in for good measure.

I'm tearing my hair out as my internet has chosen the right time to go kaput but if I have to drive to the airport and sit in the departures with my laptop, hogging the wi-fi, I'll be there!

So join in over the weekend and have some fun.

Woo hoo a new month and new challenges at Scrappy Accents .

Firstly the monthly sketch challenge is up along with a recipe challenge by Sharon. Go to the forum and then to challenges and you'll see her challenge and beautiful example layout.

We've two new Design Team members, the first is Tracy who is super talented and makes some beautiful things and the second is Rita who has some gorgeous cards and mini books in her gallery. Hopefully soon a blog hop will be organized where you can get to see the DT members blogs and all they do.

Well, over at the Scrappy Accents ning group, there has been a bit of a change.

It's with great sadness that Theresa has had to step down as the manager of the site and has handed the baton to me, jaine. She remains owner and an active member and I seriously hope she'll be showing us what she's doing from time to time. She's done a fantastic job up to now and I know you're with me when I say thank you and good luck.

There's still time to join in the challenge for March and there'll be a new challenge coming up in April.

Coming up, I'll be orgainizing a cybercrop weekend in April with challenges, games and maybe a tutorial or two.

So keep watching for some new stuff and I'll see you soon.

Hi. My name is Mica. I live in Mississippi with my husband of almost 20 years and we have a 15-year-old daughter. I've been enjoying scrapbooking for about 3 years now. I love working with sketches. They eliminate a great deal of my frustration when scrapping and allow my layouts to be versatile. I was looking for some sketch sites to join this year and I found this friendly community. I am I'm married to my second husband and we live on 5 acres of woods and wild life 60 miles south of St. Louis. We have 4 small dogs, (Snowy, Jose Cuevo (he's a friend of mine), Tucker Buddy, and Wyatt). Also 2 cats (Mary Shelley and Bette Midler).

I have 3 grown children Joshua and Jeremy (the twins) and Janel. I have 3 of the coolest grandkids, Hayley, almost 9, Donovan, almost 5, and Maya who is 4 and is my birthday buddy.

I started scrapping a year ago in November. I was unemployed and needed an outlet to keep me from going stir crazy. I now work part time and have plently of time to devote to my passion. Little did I know at the time that I would fall in love with paper crafting! I love being involved in swaps, making cards, layouts, and altered items. I'm a struggling Stamping Up! Demostrator, and totally devoted to their products! I also started a Yahoo Group almost a year ago and have 42 members who I consider my extended family. I have been a member here at Scrappy Accents since it's beginning and am looking forward to getto to know my new family.

I live in Central Texas and have been scrapping and card making for about 3 years. I've worked in the Legal Support field for 20 years and run my business from home. I have a beautiful daughter who is in college studying to be a 2nd grade teacher. She is the one who inspired me to get creative. Her handmade Christmas cards are always the hit of the season in our family. I'm no artist, but I can Cuttlebug and scraplift like crazy! I look forward to the challenges of working on the Scrappy Accents Design Team.

I am an ex-pat. Brit, living with my 3 daughters and long suffering husband in Luxembourg. We've been here for 16 years and love it! I'm known as the Basement Gal because I work and play out of my basement, occasionally shared with children, but mostly shared with our cat Jess!

Arts and crafts have always been a part of my life, from knitting with my grandmother , to training as an interior designer. Ive had a go at most things, including patchwork, quilting, and pottery. My passion for paper started about 10 years ago when I was introduced to stamping and got into card making. Scrapbooking soon followed and ever since I've become totally obsessed with creating mini albums, scrapping digitally, creating hybrid projects, and now, I teach the art to eager students. I am so happy to be a part of the Scrappy Accents Design Team and look forward to getting stuck in to challenges and chat.

I live in a small town in Missouri. I have been married for 25 years to my high school sweetheart. I have been scrapping for about 10 years now, digital for 7 years. I love to scrap! It is my escape from the stress of every day life. I am a 2 year breast cancer survivor. I have a beautiful young daughter who is 18. I live each day like it is my last, for each day is a gift from God.

I live right outside of New Orleans, LA. I have lived all over the UD and have been married to my best friend Larry for nearly 25 years. We have two wonderful daughters in college, Lauren (20) and Allyson (18). I have one four legged son named Marcus, he is a 8year old black lab, and also two cats.

In my spare time, I like to play an online game "World of Warcraft" with my husband and daughter.

In my real life, I am a Project Coordinator for an IT firm. But what I really do is scrap and blog! I have always been creative, doing cross stitch, crocheting, sewing, making Christmas ornaments, and what ever else I could find. I discovered scrapbooking in 2004 when a CM demostrator sold me some goodies, although my father recently showed me a "digital scrapbook" I did for him in 1988 in Word Perfect with lots of funky clipart. My muse is to look at others blogs, websites, or anything scrappy. There is so much inspiration out there, you just need to find it!

I live in Southern Texas with my hubby of 20 years and our 3 year old grandson. I have two handsome grown sons, and a beautiful grown step-daughter. And two of the most beautiful grandchildren, who give me lots of inspiration for scrapping.

I am a "blind" scrapper, being leagally blind due to a stroke. I have been scrapping just over 3 years, when I learned I was going to be a oma (grandma). I don't have one style, I enjoying trying new techniques and learning from others.

Calling all Scrappers! Scrappy Accents is a new Challenge Community and is seeking its very first Design Team. We are looking for six motivated scrappers that can commit to daily participation in our community. We are looking for a variety of scrapping styles, so even if you are new to scrap booking, please submit. At this time, there is no compensation. However, we hope to have sponsors in the near future.

Design Team Submissions will be accepted until December 1, 2009. Those chosen will be notified by December 15, 2009 and have their project ready to be revealed January 1, 2010. Design team duties will run for a 3 month term from January 1, 2010 to March 31, 2010.
